What is DuraCoat?
DuraCoat is a tough, thin urethane finish made for firearms. It bonds well, resists rust, holds up to cleaners and oils, and comes in a huge range of colors. Unlike oven-baked finishes, DuraCoat air-cures with a hardener, so it’s safe on parts that shouldn’t be baked and easy to touch up later.
What we coat
- Rifles and shotguns (full gun or parts)
- Pistol slides and frames
- Many suppressors (depends on the material and the maker)
- Camo and stencil patterns, two-tone and custom blends
- Refinishing worn, scratched or rusty guns
How it works
- Request a coating and pick your colors in our shop.
- We send an estimate with a timeline.
- Drop the gun off. We handle all prep: disassembly, degreasing and surface prep.
- We coat, cure and reassemble, then function-check it.
- Pick it up. Go easy on harsh solvents for the first week while the finish fully hardens.
How long does it take?
Most jobs take a few days to a couple of weeks depending on prep and the shop schedule. You’ll get a date with your estimate.
DuraCoat or Cerakote?
Both are thin, durable firearm finishes, and with good prep they hold up about the same in normal use. Cerakote is oven-cured; DuraCoat air-cures, offers more colors and patterns, and is easier to touch up. DuraCoat takes a few weeks to reach full hardness, but your gun is fine to handle and shoot right away.
